If you’re new to Google+ (and since it’s still in Beta, who isn’t?), you may find some of the default behaviors… annoying at best. For instance, I’ve only been on there for about four days, and already I’m tired of getting the notification from my Android app, AND an email notification.
Unlike Facebook or Twitter, Google+ does not readily show where you can change your notification settings, but hey, that’s what I’m doing right now!
Ok, here’s the deal, and it’s easier than you think. In the web browser of your choice (ahem… “Firefox” cough cough), click on your name at the top right hand corner of your Google+ content window. Then click on “Account Settings”.
This of course will take you into the settings for your entire Google account, but we’re focusing on Google+ settings here, so go ahead and click on the Google+ link in the sidebar on the left. Yay! We’re there!
Now you can go through and modify each setting individually, or simply click the radio button for “Don’t notify me”. You can also edit your preferences for your +1’s to be viewed outside of the Google+ main site. And don’t worry about looking for a save button, as Google is smart, and auto saves your preferences every time you make a click!
